My Car's Cigarette Lighter Socket Fuse Needed Changing!

I have a Hyundai Accent 1.3 si 5 door Hatchback and I have recently travelled a two hour journey between Gateshead in Tyne and Wear to Edinburgh when my Sat Nav stopped working. It was losing charge. I automatically thought that the Sat Nav that I bought recently was faulty but later realised that the cigarette lighter socket stopped working. The fuse has blown out.

After a good search through online forums for help and reading the car manual I managed to change the fuse and success its back on working.

Basically I have found my car’s fuse box just next to the pedals.

The fuse rating grid is found on the reverse side of the cover. In the event of a fuse failure, the fuse should be replaced with one of equivalent rating. There should be a fuse removal tool within the fuse box to facilitate replacement. Do not remove any fuse while engine is on.

Warning:

The use of replacement fuses having a higher rating than specified or other means of connecting the circuit will create a potential fire hazard.

Luckily I have some fuses saved just for these kind of instances. According to the fuse grid I need a 15A, blue as they are also colour coded and it will say 15 on the plastic on the fuse.

The fuse shown above is new and you can see in the middle through the plastic that the connection is intact. However if the fuse has blown out you will clearly be able to see a disconnection.
